Using cms_selflink dir="next" on pages set to not Show in Menu

Post by tophers »

Hi,

I have a site that is starting to develop a fairly deep content structure. I have sample pages at a lower level that I'd like to NOT be shown in the menu. However, once a selection has been made to view one of these pages, I'd like to use cms_selflink (dir="previous" and "next") to allow navigation between them. Currently, if the pages are set to Not Show in Menu, the "previous" and "next" links ignore them, and move to the next visible page. Is there a way to focus the selflink on these 'hidden' pages?

The site is in progress, and I've currently set the pages to be Shown in Menu, but the pages in question can be viewed here:

Thanks for any help on this.

You want to 'navigate' between pages that are 'not shown in menu'..... this probably means that you're doing something wrong with the layout of your pages.

Why not do this:
a) Create a new section header, and make sure that it's 'show in menu' flag is off
b) Change the parent of all of your hidden pages to be a child of this new section header
c) Change the pages back so that 'show in menu' is on.

Now the next/prev page links will all work.

That does work, Calguy, but now I'm having issues with the {sitemap} tag as a result - every entry following the 'hidden' Section moves back one level (ie - a level three page looks like a two, and a level one is actually protruding left past the main list!). Is ther ejust something I'm missing? Here's the site - http://www.blumonkee.com/clients/ixlbri ... ge=sitemap.

The Verterra King Series is where I started. The Prairie Style Architecture is at the same page level as Verterra, but showing as one level up. And Commercial is a top-level page (the same as Residential).

Any help is appreciated, and sorry for the gap in replies - I was pulled off this project for a while.
