MySQL needed?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

MySQL needed?

Post by shenalol »

Hello!

I am a current user of CMS Made Simple, and am trying to install it on another website I've created.

I made a website for an college organization, but it is hosted for free by their University's web server. Unfortunately, I would not be able to create a database. They offer MySQL databases, but for an enormous price. I was thinking CMSSimple would be able to still work because it's listed under the Wikipedia listing of Open Source CMS programs as supporting flat-file databases. (See the list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... nt_systems )

Is this true? I really LOVE this program, and I would like to keep using it. If creating a MySQL database is absolutely necessary, can you suggest any other OpenSource CMS programs that would not require this.

Thanks,
Shena

Hi Shena,

your eyes are quick, too quick - you've read the entry for CMsimple

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CMSimple

not CMS made simple. It's a (very) big difference.

But maybe there's another option you can use SQLite (a database inside a file). Server needs only an installed module. And you have to use AdoDB instead AdoDB lite.

Ahhh! Thanks, Cyberman! I checked the other one and don't quite like it.

Could you explain to me how to create the SQLite, what module needs to be installed, and what is this AdoB?... or at least point me to a couple links that can?

Thanks again! You're awesome!
