ChampagneGallery.com.au

Post by FantomCircuit »

Hi all

We have finally launched http://www.champagnegallery.com.au

The site is using a custom built shop module, with major changes to a number of other modules (events, front end users etc)

It has taken around 2 months, with a team of two people (one of them being me) working for the last month, and me working on it by myself for the first month.

Much use of the mootools javascript library to make the checkout process and product browsing that much more faster and efficient.

I hope to soon extract the shop module and release it to the public - at the moment it's too specific-built for this site.

Let me know what you guys think - it's been one hell of a ride (and I havn't had a weekend in 2 months, so I need a big break now :P )

What fantomcircuit didn't mention was that we really need to rework some other modules (notably FEU & SelfReg) to fit the design & make things flow the way the customer wanted.

As I've spent 4 weeks on FEU, selfreg, calendar, blog, news, comments changes I second the motion for a big hoiliday !

I can see that you've put a lot of work into this and you've included some really nice features. I like the layout and graphics very much. However, the style doesn't appeal to me.

For me, anyway, the text is way too big, kinda "in your face" big. It doesn't seem to fit the elegance of the product you're selling, namely champagne.

Also, I'm not a big fan of scrolling. I like info presented in "screen-sized" chunks, using as little scrolling as possible. I think more potential sales are lost because customers don't see all of the info presented on a page - they see some links at or near the top of the page and click onto the next page, without having seen all of the page they were just on.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, good point. We (kneehigh and I) did not come up with the design. The client seems happy with it though, so it's probably not going to change any time soon :)

Never really thought of link distraction that way before , though the home page is the only page that pushes most of the content below the bottom edge of the browser window. While being a bit top-heavy, I think most of the other pages are of acceptable length, and considering our target audience, the site has been designed with larger screens in mind.

I see a little error in CG Nouvelle with Chamgane Gallery  ::)

I see many user that use mootools. I must check this library  :)

And we can finally get back at him - "no reduce that padding by 1px , move it up by 2px, no back 1px no I meant left - looks good " - er have you seen it in IE?  ;D
