[SOLVED] Help customising the default template

Post by shalli »

Hi,

i am wondering if anyone can help with this topic. I am newbie running cms made simple 1.1 using phpmyadmin (not sure version no) and mysql (not sure version no).

My problem is that I have set up a home page with my custoimised design using my customised stylesheet but when i click view site it displays the default template. I know that if I set all pages to use my stylesheet this will change, but i was wondering is there another way of doing this as I would like to keep the defaulted templates for emergencies if possible.

Please help!

thanks in advance

cheers

Shalli,

the templates and attached stylesheets are still there when you assign a different template to a page. I normally copy and give the copy a new name. When I then test or have questions, I can re-assign a template to that page.

So you don't have to delete the standard templates/stylesheets.

Thanks for the reply ronny,

So would you suggest that I click on set all my pages to view the design that I am customising.

You see the problem is that when i click on view site it display the default template and not what I have been designing. That why I was wondering if there is another way.

cheers

You can, if you only want to change one page to your design/template, go to Content > Pages and click the name of a page then in this page is a dropdown for Template: that should have your design/template listed choose it and then apply/submit then view site to see changes...

If you make a new template make sure all CSS is attached to it and that it is active, go to Layout > Templates and look for a red X, not active, or green check, active, under the active heading...
