News module confuses me! Can I do this...

Hi all,

I'm looking for an article/features thingy; A set of links on the RHS which link to show the full article/feature (detail). I've been experimenting and the news module seems almost what I'm looking for. Now the problem I have is this: I add the news items and configure the template for a content page (not the news template) to display these links down the RHS like this {news}. Great so far. Now, say I'm on the site home page (any page infact) and I click on a link, the detail news item will open up in the middle of the page I'm on and muck up the info for that page! So, my question is this: Can I set it up so that when I click on a news item it goes to a dedicated news page?

Am I off whack here? Have I missed something do you think? Just seems better for the site I have. You know, all the news links on the RHS will open up in a 'News' page instead of all pages of the site?

I should say that the news links on the RHS should be present on all pages

If you open up "News" in your CMSms admin and click on "help" you find different parameters you could use. for example there is parameter called: detailpage="pagealias"
That will open your news on "dedicated newspage".
