I have had good luck with this player
http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/

make sure you place all the files on your site server

make sure your path information to the files is correct

Why isnt it just upload this to here .. push that button .. enter your music file ... hit play????

Ive looked through both those links given, cheers lads! :)  Its the embedding, and make sure this is done and dont forget that .. scares me .....

:'(  I have the FLV player on my comp now already.  However, one has to be a tech to understand the jargon!
Its a man thing, they do this cos theres some women out here who loose the thread after the words, How to ...

Am I going to have to get a tech to do this, or should I plod on in the hope that it falls into place?

Hi Lovelee.

If it is only for one audio file, you should try the Dewplayer. It is really simple and looks good too. (You will have to upload the file by FTP first.)

You can install it directly from inside your admin panel: Extensions --> Module Manager.

I've learned more by just doing it and if it messes up I try to learn not to do that again...

Just jump in, have fun... ;)

Ive found that building the site has been relatively easy using CMS.
This has me stumped.
Ive looked at the info for the dewplayer, gone to download.  and what do I get a page of program!

I looked at extensions.. module .. err .. cant get there.

Looked around for something to play with .. cant find anything!

Emailed the dude who helped me set it up, he must be on holiday, no reply.

Im ready to give up now  >:(

Don't just yet!
If you get a page of code when trying to download, you have opened the .xml file. Instead, rightclick the "DewPlayer-0.1.xml" link and "Save Link As ..." to your computer.

In your CMSms admin area, click "Modules" in the "Extensions" menu. At the bottom of the modules page there is a panel called "Install module via XML file". Browse to the location on your computer where you saved DewPlayer and select the file.
Hit "Submit" button and you have DewPlayer installed!

I hope this is the info you needed, otherwise it could sound mighty condesending  ;)

Halm .. thank you for that!!
Now I have it up on the site.  I uploaded an audio file, and the guy whose helping me managed to point the audio to the dewplayer. All was good.  He asked me to upload some music, I had to ftp it.  When I went to the cms panel to look at where it was, I could see it there, in the same place as the original audio.  Now its all gone.  Ive emailed him and asked him whats happened, he said its all backed up, that somethings going wrong.
Hes not sure if its him or the music player thats stupid.  I have my own thoughts.
Where should the music be, for it to point to the dewplayer?

Hi Lovelee,

Just in case the other solution doesn't work, here's a simpler one.

I read about this on

http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2006/0 ... bsite.html

1.  simply add this bit of code in the webpage where you want the music clip to appear [assuming you want people to click on something to start the music]
2. change the location of the MP3 to the right url for your own music clip, in simple stages:

- change the url of the website where the music clip is
- make sure to type the name of the FOLDER where you UPLOADED the music clip
- type the music clip name exactly - that's it!

I've just set this up for a client and it works perfectly - good luck!
