Sites or people selling CMSMS templates

I'm sorry but I believe you should stay away from table based layout like the plague, it will not help you learn much and then you may have a harder time going to a CSS/div driven layout

I figured me making any sort of statement implying anything positive about tables would solicit such a response

Keep in mind, the other option that leerees was considering is a Template Monster design . . . while pure CSS is great it's a bit idealistic for someone who I'm assuming is a novice.  What I'm suggesting is utilizing styled tables to understand the basics of graphic layout...when using styled tables it is very easy to transition to pure CSS if one so desires.

In any case, to each his own opinion...that's why this forum is such a great venue.

You mentioned you can design any site in pure CSS...that's commendable. I think the best guage of a solution is seeing past results. It's really all about the site owner's needs and preferences...so leerees it look like you can look to both mark http://multiintech.com/ or myself http://risingline.com as different flavors of resources if you need external help.

hi guys,

i have absolutely no idea what div css tables are or why i need them, I've tried to understand CSS but it just makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. The chocolate mint wasn't really clear as to what was actually going on.

i did go to multintech.com to have a look but it had errors and none of the template demos displayed properly and the menus didn't work correctly in internet explorer.

What im after is for someone to tell me how much they would charge to convert a template from templatemonster.com to work with CMSMS. Hiring someone to design a template from scratch is going to be outside of my budget.

You're highlighting a great point ... everyone who uses CMSMS does not need to be coerced to start coding in some mythical pure CSS world.  Like the front page of cmsmadesimple.org says:

"Want to use table layouts? Fine!
Want to do pure XHTML/CSS? Fine!
Wanna mix 'em up? Fine! No problem."

CSS is great, but a huge differentiator of CMSMS is that it meets people where they are in terms of skills and budget...it's very practical and flexible. Maybe someday we'll all have  "pure" CSS sites...hopefully ones that work

I've upgraded my site to CMSMS 1.1 and not all the templates had the {metadata} tag in them or it was too far down in the head, something else to keep in mind as IE6 won't see it soon enough to use it for the JS that makes the menus work, they all worked on IE6, IE7, Safari, and Firefox before, I'm in the middle of redoing them to work...

I test all templates in these browsers before implementing them... so it's back to working on them...
