Is there a list out with different modules for different purposes. I would like to see on a category of modules, what is recommended, because of either "functioning on releases", "developing" etc.. This would make it easier for others to pick a module, as they would know then upfront what is the preferred module with probably the best support/development. Ik think that with the recommended list, the modules will be better then when all are working with different modules/combinations.
If there is no such list, is it an idea to start such a list?

Recommending Modules
Re: Recommending Modules
I just found this comment from the blog discussion of the OpenSourceCMS review. I'm a new user of CMSMS, and am hesitant about installing modules. The site I'm working on is small, and has few functionality needs, form calendar, news.
I was hoping some of the veteran CMSMS users would post their thoughts in this thread on what modules are stable and recommended.

Re: Recommending Modules
Well, those two can be used easily. News is part of the Core installation, and Calendar is one of the most installed modules. If you have any other needs, feel free to ask on the forum.

Re: Recommending Modules
Ronny,
Thanks for the quick reply. I found several modules for Forms. I wasn't sure which one was recommended, and ended up clicking on the About for several before realizing I needed to click on the Help button.
I checked the FormBuilder module, and thought this would be a good module to download, until I read the following in the Help:
This is no longer a particularly early version, but it is probably still buggy.
FormBuilder does not yet support pretty urls...
Still buggy? What does it mean that it doesn't "support pretty urls"? I've set up my site with pretty urls.
I visited the FormBuilder module home in the Forge, and tried to find answers to my concerns. Couldn't find any answers, perhaps I need to look somewhere else? I'd like to learn more about the "buggy" issue as well as the "pretty url" issue, and also find some basic info about the module. For example, does FormBuilder create table based code for the form, or does it use css? What kind of email validation does it specifically do?
I've written my own form handling script in PHP, with accessibility, validation, and usability in mind, for other client sites that are maintained with PHP, not a CMS. I have some requirements for what I expect a form processing script to do, not sure if FormBuilder fits all the requirements.

Re: Recommending Modules
I don't know about FormBuilder having issues with "Clean URLs", first of all, I don't have setup pretty-URLs, but also I didn't hear about any problems. It might be an old "Help-file" you were reading.
Maybe one of the others can confirm that there isn't an issue with FB and pretty URLs.

Re: Recommending Modules
Thanks Ronnie. I read the FormBuilder help file within my installation, from the .3 release of FormBuilder, according to the Help file.
Re: Recommending Modules
You're welcome,
I just asked explicitly in the "Installation help" area. You might wanna follow up that one.....

Re: Recommending Modules
Hi Ronny,
Thanks for the help. I'll keep checking the Installation forum for responses.

Hello redcrew,
Pierre M.
Hey ! If this code is GPLv2 too (like CMSms) you have the opportunity to get in touch with the FormBuilder/FormBrowser maintainer for sharing experiences and maybe code. Your features/requirements would be team maintained. Just an idea.redcrew wrote: I've written my own form handling script in PHP, with accessibility, validation, and usability in mind, for other client sites that are maintained with PHP, not a CMS.
