News Problem - next and previous news articles - ideas?

Post by tomjaxon »

Hi,

I have just started using CMSMS and I must say I am impressed. I can't remember how I stumbled upon CMS made simple but am so glad I did.

I do have however one question...

Is it possible to have "next" and "previous" news article links on a news detail template?

When viewing a news article in the detail template, rather than just the standard "Return" link, I want the user to be able to navigate to the previous or the next article in the current news category.

The result is would be similar to the next and previous links that are available for content...

{cms_selflink dir="prev" rellink=1}
{cms_selflink dir="next" rellink=1}

... but unfortunately do not work for news items.

Has anybody done this? I have seen numerous forum posts on pagination of the News Summary but nothing on navigating across news articles when viewed at the Detail level.

I'm also keen to get this going. It's part of Joomla and I'm used to it.

Add a Feature request in News module on Forge

That request has been in there since 2005. Oh well.

I wish I could use CMS made simple more often, but this is a major feature that is necessary.

Yes. How do I sponsor a developer and how much will it cost. This should be standard, though, but I understand a thousand little things to do...

To sponsor a new feature in a module, go to the forge and find the module then find who the developer is and contact them with a request to pay for the feature you want, they should get back with you with an idea of how much it may cost...

Please be as detailed as possible about what you want as it helps cut down on the back and forth and can expedite the whaole process...

So whatever became of this? Were you able to implement the navigation? If so, what steps did you have to take?
Thanks!
