how to get the hovering effect for the 2nd menu-level.

Post by DonMonty25 »

I've been asked to create a top menu and a left-side menu for a school.  They would like the top menu to have a a hovering effect for the 2nd menu-level.  In that way the top menu with a hovering effect at the 2nd level will be constant.  The left-side menu will change with the different pages and divisions.

I would appreciate any help I can get.  I'm not proficient at html and css, but I can learn.

With "the top menu to have a hovering effect for the 2nd menu-level" - Do you mean that when hovering Top menu 2nd menu comes visible like drop down menu? You can do that with css menu. You can also make left menu with another menu call by using start_level="2" in your menu call so it only shows 2nd level menu items.

You can have 2 diff. effects for the menu by calling primary-nav li {your style} and second level primary-nav li li {your second style}...

But not sure exactly what you are looking...

Did you not want to use the template I showed you for the school?...

Mark,

I have been out of the office at training for a few weeks and haven't gotten back to you.  Yes, I am going to use the template you showed me.  As I was working on it, one of the techies looked it over and said that this is not compatible with the recent version of CMSMS.  I told him it was and a reputable developer had sent it to me.

He is worried (since he manages the web servers) that if a newer updates of CMS comes out, the templates will be overridden, and the school can’t afford to have its pages go down.

Another school was interested in the template you had done, but they want to have the hovering levels even on the left side.  So, I am going to place their pages on another test server.

I have had my main site since march of 06 and have upgraded it from 0.12 to 1.0.8 with 40 some menu templates with NO problems, so any menu templates you make now will last the duration of any site upgrades...

ps. let me know if you want that template...
