Directory Structure

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Directory Structure

Post by JF »

Thanks for the very promising CMS.  I look forward to trying it out.

Right now I need a little clarification before I go further in my install procedure.  In this case, as in anything having to do with computers, we do need to be precise.

What exactly should the directory structure look like once the whole shebang is uploaded?  Here's what I got on a hosted Linux server thru cPanel's File Manager:

/public_html/socialview/CMSMadeSimple/cmsmadesimple-1.1/cmsmadesimple/

This comes from downloading the latest stable release on your web site, and uncompressing it on my Windows desktop.  It created the CMSMadeSimple directory with all the stuff in it.  I uploaded the whole thing to /public_html, as directed at "Quick Install via FTP" and then realized that I really wanted to use it for my other domain, which is an add-on domain.  I then moved it to the current location described above.

The question comes in when I check out Step 5, where it says to use the same "(sub)directory" as in Step 3, and I begin to second-guess myself.

I'd rather not go on until I am sure about this.

Thanks very much the the help.

Depending on where you want it, the files in cmsmadesimple-1.1/cmsmadesimple/ are what you want in the directory...

If the site is going to be socialview/CMSMadeSimple/ put all the folders/files from cmsmsmadesimple folder into that directory...

If socialview then into that directory/root...

The way it is now your URL will be...

http://www.socialview/CMSMadeSimple/cms ... adesimple/...

So to recap all the folders/files starting with admin etc. are to be in the folder/diretory your URL will point to...

My main is multintech with subfolders like multiintech.com/cmsms1.1...

Hope that helps...  ;)

Many thanks, Mark.  Everything is just great!

And it looks good, too.

I must say that I believe that I have tried every single CMS offered on the Fantastico menu, as well as checking out so many others, and CMSMadeSimple is by far the best at the outset.  It is also quite easy to install by one's self.  This one screams for a Fantastico script.

Thanks again.
