NEW news items not displaying after 1.0.8 upgrade

Following my 1.0.8 upgrade, *NEW* news items were not displaying. The old items entered before the upgrade were still displaying. I re-installed the news module. The one default item appeared but newly entered items are still not displaying. I've checked for category issues and everything else I can think of. I don't use a WYSIWYG editor. I'm calling the module with a simple {news} tag. Any help is appreciated.

Did you check the permissions and are they set to draft or waiting for approval?...

Permissions seem fine ("modify news" is checked. As admin everything is checked.) I'm not aware of saving drafts or requiring approvals for this module. I don't see any options for these features.

In the interface the Options tab has settings for approval, also check the articles themselves they may has expiration checked, at the bottom...

I wondered about expiration as well but that's not the problem.
I don't have any of these options (see screenshot). I wonder if this install isn't really v2.2.

WOOPS that's what I get for talking w/o checking, your right no approval that's in comments...

But it does have the draft and expiration date stuff, at the bottom of edit/add article mode...

Have you cleared your site cache... Site Admin > Global Settings...

Cleared the cache; no change. But this is interesting: there's no status in edit mode. I just see *:  See screenshot.

I installed dev version 2.3.0.1 and no change, but there's now a "status" column in article view that confirms new entries are "drafts" and not being displayed. Of course there's nothing to change this status in edit mode.

Does no one else have this problem?

Yep, I've got it too. Not for my original admin user id, but for new user id's I've added. New users can't see the Status field.

What about putting the parameter "Approve News For Frontend Display" in the permissions as well. It might be a rights issue, as that is new in the module.
