I have been using CMSMS since about 1.0 and have just completed my first 1.0.8 installation. There seems to be a major bug in the FCKeditor version used in 1.0.8 (which I think is v2.0.5).
When I try to browse the server for an image, I get a full screen error message which starts by saying "the server did not send back a proper XML response". The gist of the message seems to be that FCKeditor is not logged in, so the server refuses to let it browse folders and files. You can see the actual message at:

Now this problem has been reported in a number of forums by a number of people and there have been a few lame attempts at coming up with a fix or a workaround, but I've tried them all and they don't work. It's a bug and it's only quite recent. It seems to exist on various different platforms, including the CMSMS demo at opensourcecms.org! I get it on my commercially hosted site at Vodahost (which has very generous security privs) and even on my Wamp5 installation under Windows.
Odd thing is that the Album module, which must use a similar routine to browse for files on the server, does not seem to have any problems doing so at all. So that should provide a clue to the source of the problem.
Help to resolve this would be really appreciated as I have a client waiting to go live with this version.
Thanks
Tony

Re: FCKeditor won't browse server for images in 1.0.8 - urgent
Hiya
I too have had this problem in the last couple of days -- interestingly it seems it may be machine specific. I don't get it on my own machine, but another editor gets it on his. If I log in to our site using his username and password from my machine I don't get the bug.
I followed the instructions on this post http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 255.0.html which have worked, though i don't understand the consequences.
Good luck
