Successfully installed via FTP, now how to use?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Successfully installed via FTP, now how to use?

Post by duckgoesoink »

Hi,

I'm new to CMSMS (actually to any kind of CMS) and have just successfully installed via FTP. This may sound totally stupid, but I don't understand how to start using it now - I clicked the continue button and I get the following message:

"There is no config.php file or install/index.php please correct one these errors!"

I did upload an empty config.php file during installation, and afterwards changed the permissions to 444, so I don't quite know what's wrong. I tried looking in the wiki and through the forums for any obvious answer, so I apologise if this is a stupid question.

Thankyou for any help, as a newbie I appreciate your responses.
Hin :-)

Oh ok, I just followed the "Quick Install via FTP" which said to use permission 666 during install, then after installation change it to 444. Should I reinstall completely?

No, if install wizard runs without problems use this ...

The install wizards ran already, passing all tests - it was only when they had finished and I clicked the continue button that the error came up (and any time I try to connect to my site). So should I upload the /install directory again and just run it another time? (I deleted it from the server after installation like the manual said to.)

Thanks cyberman. :-)

The one I mentioned in the first post:

"There is no config.php file or install/index.php please correct one these errors!"

(Happens when I try to connect to my site skymaiden.com.)

OK, thanks for your help - I uploaded the install folder again, and a fresh config.php file, and went through the installation again. It seems to be working now. :-)
