metadata misbehaviour

Hi
In my template, the metadata tag is in between the tags but depsite that the text I enter in the page editor for metadata appears as visible text on the page background.
Am I missing something?
I have 2 sites where this happens, one is 1.0.6 and the other 1.1

If the -information is being displayed as text in background, then it is very likely that you have an unclosed tag or a missing quotation-mark somewhere in your template. Could that be the case?

I'm feeling very stupid now - I had assumed I just entered text in the metatags wysiwyg editor area - didnt realise I needed to put in the tags as well!
