Hi,
I have a very annoying CHMOD permissions problem, i.e if I set the highest directory of files to CHMOD: 777 it does not do all files inside that directory and therefore each time I do an upgrade of modules etc I have to go in and CHMOD each folder and file inside the module directory. My host (internal IT deptpartment) says that’s the way it is but that can not be true because in my past installations of CMSMS I have never had a problem, I CHMOD the highest level of directory and that was that. Please can someone help me, so that explain to my host what I mean or intend to do.
Also during my installation I changed my CHMOD settings according to the installation guidelines however when I go to Site Admin > Global Settings > and hit “File Creation Mask (umask): TEST” and got the following message:
“No permission to write in directory. This could be caused by file permissions and ownership. Safe mode may also be in effect.”
I think this is related to my original problem above – does anyone know what’s causing the issue and how it can be resolved?
thanks

Re: Permission Issues (CHMOD)
For the test to work, the httpd process needs write access to the /tmp directory, not tmp/cache or tmp/templates_c, just tmp. You should recursively open up the permissions on the tmp directory. Also during my installation I changed my CHMOD settings according to the installation guidelines however when I go to Site Admin > Global Settings > and hit “File Creation Mask (umask): TEST” and got the following message:
