Modules not showing up in list

I'm pretty new to this CMS's, I've usually built my own custom applications for clients to manage their content.  However, time is of the essence so I did some research and found this great software.  I'm trying to get myself accustomed to it but I'm having some difficulty installing extensions.

I followed the instructions on the wiki, I've downloaded calendar.zip from the modules page, uploaded the directory into modules, but when I go into the admin section into extensions> modules I don't see calendar in the list.  I've also added form generator, and my tracks and they are not showing up in the list either.

Do I need to add these somewhere else?  Has anybody experienced this before?  I've emptied my cache, I rebooted my computer, I even tried rebooting the web server and I'm still not seeing them for install in the admin.

Any help is much appreciated, I'm looking forward to using some of the great extensions and possibly building some more.
