Cataloger, Item in multiple categories??

Post by mattbeales »

I'm setting up Cataloger at the moment and am wondering if there is a way of entering an item into multiple categories without having to make the entry twice. I.e. two category pages linking to the same item page rather than each category linking to its own, separate item page.

Thanks

Matt

According to the documentation you can use the "Content Aliases" module with Cataloger ( http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/contentaliases ) but I didn't have any luck with it. Maybe it will work better for you.

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately content alias only adds a menu item for the page. It will not add the item into the catalogue on that page.

I'm not going to have the individual items in the menu so I need an option that adds an item into the category page content.

Any other suggestions??

Thanks a lot.

I'm looking for a solution to this same problem.

My catalog is for an online music store.  I am selling CDs and TShirts for multiple bands.  I need to be able to put an item (like a CD) under both an ItemType category and a BandName category.

For instance: I would need to put the CD 'The Beatles - Abbey Road' under both 'CD' and 'The Beatles'.
Likewise, I would need to put the TShirt 'Jimi Hendrix Flaming Guitar TShirt' under boath 'TShirt' and 'Jimi Hendrix'.

Thanks!
