I have a site in German with some long page titles and menu texts. I had to edit a page with title 'Veranstaltungen' & the same menu text. After submitting the changes cms (phplayers) couldn't find the Veranstaltungen.shtml page anymore - after a few tests I changed both texts to Events and it worked....
I have several other pages with long titles and they still work - I won't risk editing them until I get some news.....

I'm skating on thin ice here, since I'm really no expert. But as an idea: I suppose you use mod_rewrite. Since that is a server-based thing, maybe your server is unable of processing these long titles?

I wondered if it was related to that, but I've been using the same titles since before 0.10 & I implemented mod_rewrite with the long titles. The problem has started after editing a page after 0.10beta3
I've not checked but I wonder if the name is truncated when saving back to the DB
