I've been playing with some distributions, but am anxious to hear others about linux distributions recommended for the use as a webserver to host CMSMS domains.
I'd like to hear about interface/security/size etc of distributions used by others.

What Linux distribution do you recommend for CMSMS
Re: What Linux distribution do you recommend for CMSMS
debian
-base installation is small, and you can install only the packages you like
-security is good, patches come quickly and are easy to install (even automate)
-interface: ssh is enough for everything

Debian is my favorite too.
Though I haven't tried them, I've read good reports about hosting on RHEL and CentOS too.
Debian Etch rocks

Thanks for the replies so far.
I heard good things about CentOS too, specifically about it's security, it's the free distro of RedHat. I recently tried "OpenSuse" and "Mandriva", and was about to try CentOS, but now I think I'll go for Debian first.

Many might argue that it's really just a flavor of Debian, but I use Ubuntu and have been very happy with it.

Fedora and end of month there will be 7.
Re: What Linux distribution do you recommend for CMSMS
If you're going to run it as a web server, I'd recommend CentOS or Debian stable. I use Fedora on the desktop and I like it a lot, but it's maybe moving forward a bit too fast for stable server use. CentOS should be great for that kind of use if you like Red Hat based stuff, but Debian is nice too.RonnyK wrote: I heard good things about CentOS too, specifically about it's security, it's the free distro of RedHat.

If the purpose is to make a real server I can recommend Clark Connect. It's based on centos and has a great web admin-interface for pretty much everything. Of course you can also you the command line, but for basic server use it's really not necessary. Out of box readyness for everything needed (Apache, PHP, MySQL, Samba, FTP, VPN, etc etc.).
