Hi PPL,
I would love to be able to provide my version info (CMCMS, Apache, MYSQL, PHP) but these details are not readily available and I am going to have to run phpinfo when I can but for now any suggestions to this issue will be most appreciated!
I have installed CMCMS no problems but for some reason the site keeps going down (interet explorer cant display this web page, etc, same with firefox) but i know the server is still available because it will serve pages from a template directory. is there an issue or some common thing newbies forget to do that would cause this sort of thing? The site might work fine for 10 - 20 minutes then not for 5 then again its fine for 5 then not and you get the picture.
Its driving me nuts beyond belief but CMCMS is so easy to use, would be a shame to have to dump it because im newbin it up!
Thanks for any help!
SMS Made Simple sparodic access issue?

I'd blame overloaded server..

Re: SMS Made Simple sparodic access issue?
I have considered both but neither fathom out as the site is a development subdomain and everything else works fine, even the template directory on the CMS site can deliver pages, its like CMSMS just isnt there. I dunno where to begin troubleshooting it either? I suppose im just going to have to put another CMS in there and see if it suffers from the same issue.
Re: SMS Made Simple sparodic access issue?
delivering static pages is different from parsing and running php.
if cmsms doesnt open properly but static files come up its probably issue with php not having enough resources to run.
keep an eye on your server logs while loading pages from cmsms and check for errors.

Re: SMS Made Simple sparodic access issue?
I have had my hosts look into the problem and they replied:
"The issue with the domain looks like a web design issue, we've checked the DNS and put a test website up, this worked fine. We've also tested PHP on the domain and this is also running fine on the server. "
Am I seriously the only one to experience this issue? Its gonna really suck to have to use another CMS, this is the only one that works as expected out of the box and is easy enough to use for an idiot such as myself. Anyone know of any other CMS's worth looking @?

Re: SMS Made Simple sparodic access issue?
hmm, have you tested from another machine / another browser. I remember my boss having similar problems with some sites a while ago. I searched and searched and finally found the reason from his machine (should have blamed windows from the start)

Re: SMS Made Simple sparodic access issue?
Hi tsw, thanks for your continued suggestions!
I have tried other machines and browsers. I have used my office machine @ work, my personal desktop and my laptop using IE and Firefox. I even fired up Knoppix and tried that but the same issue persists.
Whats most annoying is that I cant re-create the problem at will, it is totally sparodic and my server logs give me sqwat about it, it doesent even mention anything about there being a problem?
Im totally stuffed on this one, I have re-installed the CMS 3 times on the theory I may have done something wrong which ballsed my setup somewhere but this fixed nothing. The only thing I can try and do now is to try another CMS and see if that too suffers the same issue. I hope it does, @ least then I can get back to my host and say look, there is a problem, 2 different projects cant both be wrong so help me out.
Im seriously unhappy though, i liked this little gem as it is so easy to pick up and use, might give drupal a go and see.
Thanks guy!

one more thing,
increase logging levels to maximum for a while and try to get the problem. maybe the logs would give some hint of whats happening..
