after step 1 i'll get chinese characters

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

after step 1 i'll get chinese characters

Post by happywim »

After i have passed step 1, i'll get chinese characters.

http://www.myweb.nl/main/install/install.php (this is what i see in de browser.)

What am i doing wrong?

Step 1 gives a test. The test shows no problem. With step 2 i have to connect to my database. But is only see chinese characters. And i can't make any choices anymore. The whole screen is full of chinese characters

It doesn't matter withs browser i use, so that isn't the problem.

I don't know how to resolve that for you, but it seems like character encoding problems with your machine, browser, or CMS MS install package..maybe?

Hope this helps. I must of loaded the latest version 10 times, rechecked everything over and over, and 10 times got a page of chinese letters. By accendent I checked my config file. It was empty!! Not sure why. So I copied the config file from a previous install and just entered the correct database, user, password. Checked all paths were correct, then uploaded it to my (VPS) server... VOILA!!  It worked. Got past that 'chinese' text page and version 6 loaded.... So far so good. Dont want to 'jinx it'.
