[solved] "Album" Module : Thumbnail appears as broken image...

Post by asim »

Hi,

I have just installed the "Album" Module into my CMSMS (V1.0.5), however the thumbnail in both admin and on the live site are not being displayed instead I the red "x" broken image symbol where the image thumb is meant to be, is the thumb meant to be created manually or?

Can anyone help? Please let me know if you have any questions or if the question above requires clarification.

Thanks.

Umm, this is little clumsy in CMSMS. To set the thumbnails automatically, you must view them in the Image Manager first.

Thanks Vin.

I'm not getting this. I went to "File Manager" and all my images were there however they appear as broken images (same red "x") even within "File Manager" - how very fustrating. Can anybody shed some light on this (I have checked and double checked, all images are on the server! and if I enter the URL of the image directly into the browser I see the image fine)

Vin, what did you mean by I have to view them in "File Manager" - what do I just go to "File Manager" and then the thumbs are created or? Please explain ...

Does anybody know of any other robust image gallery system for CMSMS or is the "Album" module the most sophisticated?

Thanks for your help in advance...

Hi,

I just want to add to my comment above. After searching the CMSMS forum one more time, I came across a similiar problem where by a users images were not being displayed, I thought I had the same problem, after further investigation it appears that the CMSMS File Manager is actually not generating thumbnails automatically, which is why the image thumbs are not being displayed. i.e the URL ...uploads/images/thumb_2-coffee-from-the-landy.jpg is looking for the an image called "thumb_2-coffee-from-the-landy.jpg" which actually does not exist on the server, which obviously means that the thumb is not being auto generated... does anyone know a soultion to this problem....

Thanks,

Asim

Hi,

Not exactly sure what resolved the problem, but these are the things I played around with, just in case anybody comes across a similiar problem;

1. Deleted and re-uploaded the "filemanager" folder, this can be found: /lib/filemanager
2. Changed the "unmask" setting in Site Admin > Global Settings > to 002 (please refer to this post: http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,11460.0.html
3. After all these I cleared the cache of this site from Site Admin > Global Settings >

Hope this helps ...

Cheers,

Asim

asim,

you can use imagemanager to manage the images. It automatically creates the thumbnails with the umask set in "Global settings". So if you see red crosses, you can change the rights of the thumbnails also using chmod, to set it to 755.
