search module: words followed by not found

Hi,

I have a little problem with the search module (v.1.1). Apparently it does not find words followed by  . For example, in "firstname surname", firstname is not found. This is probably because indexing is based on the contents source code and not the visible content.

Is there any way to replace the   with a simple blank during the process of indexing? (At least I would try that first..)

Pisearch would be an alternative, but it has other disadvantages - at least for me.

BTW: when reindexing (at Extensions -> Search) I repeatedly got an Error 500 - Internal Server Error. Are there any limitations when there's a lot of text, or what could be the reason?

Hi again,

well, I've edited the whole content, and now it works fine. But reindexing seems to need a lot of server resources, so sometimes it works and sometimes I still get a server error.

Can you increase the time and ram available to php? This might solve your problem, although the 500 error is generic.
