Problem with a module installation

Post by Neo »

Hi all,
I was trying to install a module "RandomQuote" in my website. The project files are in a ZIP format. Hence I did a FTP of the project files to my modules folder. Then I extracted the zip file. But when I went to Extensions ---> Modules in the CMS admin page, the project randomquote is not visible.  ???

So is there some other way to install a zip file module? Or is there some other thing that I am doing wrong here? (The files in the modules/randomquote folder have -rw-r--r-- permission and the randomquote folder has drwxrwxr-x permission).  :(

Link to the module which I am trying to install:

Code: Select all

     http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/randomquote
Any help to this would be really helpful.

Thanks.

Randomquote is a plubin (for the plugins directory), and not a module.

It's one of my earilest examples of addons for CMSMadeSimple, and is so badly outdated it's sad.

I should just delete it till such time as I have time to fix it properly.

Hi Calguy,
Thanks for the info  :). So do you know any other module that can be used for displaying random quotes from a file in the website (that changes every minute i.e. one quote every minute or so should be displayed in the webpage)

Please let me know if you know of any other modules which can achieve this purpose.

Thanks,
Neo
