File manager (suggestions)

Post by Hare »

I'm sorry if this topic has already been discussed but I thought I'd post anyway. I'm extremely happy with the current version of CMSMS (now that Elijah updated the TinyMCE module, thanks)... but

I would really like to see a new improved file manager. I'm aware that there's a file manager module with more functionality but basically what I'm wishing is that changing filenames would be a standard feature.

CMSMS has a good image manager that can crop, scale etc but at the same time it's always creating an incremental filename. Many users have expressed that they would like to be able to change the filename without having to launch an ftp-client or download the the file, rename it and upload it again.

Rename function exists in PHP so why not make use of it.

Thoughts?

Hi Hare

I haven't been working on FileManager-module for some time, but I'm certainly open for suggestions. A file rename function is essential and I will get to it as soon as possible.

Thank!

Great. I'm looking forward to test the new features!

I'm also hoping these features could make it to the CMSMS 2.0+ (built-in). A separate module seems to confuse some users (since there would be two different file managers in the menu). I'd like to keep CMSMS as simple as possible :)

But anyway. Sounds great.

The plan is for me to get the seperate FM-module so much uptospeed for 2.0 that it will replace the builtin. So the confusion about two time FM should not be there...

Stay tuned for new functions!

Sil.
