pdf to html conversion for email

Post by Mesmer »

The design department from my work created a nice layout for a newlsetter in .pdf format.
I would like to email this pdf newsletter as a html-email.

Can someone give me some tips on how to achieve this?

I know of a simple method by using gmail but that doesn´t convert the colours and images.

Help is very much apreciated

o    what program was used to originally create the newsletter? publisher? quark? ms word? pagemaker? photoshop?  does it have an export-to-html function in it? or can you copy/paste content from it into web page editor software (dreamweaver, frontpage, golive, etc)?

remember, some people have images turned off (or html mail completely disabled) in their mail clients.. then there's what to do about the embedded images? host them on your web server and link to them in the email? (which generates warning notices in some clients) or embed them in the email, bloating the message's size?  you may find it better (for them, and you) to take 'highlights' from the pdf version and create a shorter, 'cliffs notes' version as text-only to actually send via email that links to the complete pdf or better yet, a web page where it and past 'editions' are available for downloading.

+1. I would do it the kermit's way.
Extra bonus : archived PDF get indexed by search engines and your site gets better and better ranking. (BTW, please publish the HTML version too, not just the PDF)

Thanks for your replies.
The problem or challenge is the e-mail has to be send over an intranet. It can´t go outside the company (government).

I have the option of storing images on the intranet for linking.

(I´m not even the graphics or internet guy. Just someone with a good idea..)
