Statistics Module ?

Post by chris.. »

Hi everyone,

just want to understand how to read statistics results from the module.

What is Total hits ? why total hits are so low and pages hits so high ?
I've only 28 total hits but 738 pages hits for the homepage. And I've a hundred subscribers for the newsletter so I'm pretty sure that a hundred different people have visited my site.
Talking about pages hits : what are these numbers inside brackets ?

No urgency, just wanna know, thanx everyone.

P.S: for those who didn't see this post (http://blog.cmsmadesimple.org/2007/02/08/20-needs-your-help/) I'm sad almost nobody seems to answer his call. CMSMS is the most wonderful CMS I've ever used, but I don't think I can help Ted in some way.
Perhaps one of those reading this.

Hmm, not sure ... maybe that's a bug.

If I'm right, total hits counts user that visit your website and page hits is number of pages they've looked.

Thanx for reply.

As I said, it can't be : I've now 77 total hits and 132 subscribers to the newsletter. So I must have at least the same number for total hits. And I've 1500 visits for the hompage, I don't think 77 people have seen the same page about 50 times.

Anyone has it installed with the same differences ?

Hello,

I'm curious as I don't know the statistics module...
http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/visitorstats
http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/statistics
What can it do that a "classic" cookie-combined.log analysis can not ?
And how do the two modules compare ?

I'm a bit late  ;D

Visitorstats is sort of litterature : It tells you which visitor made what, like "IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx did stay 15s on HomePage then turned left to the page MyBeautifulOtherPage where he stays for a while too,..."  Like a witness to a cop.
Statistics is more graphical : progress bars and numbers.

Second one seems to be more like your usual hosting logs but it's in your favorite interface : CMSMS admin panel.
The only dark side of it is this bug (well, maybe just in my case).

So, my question is still pending...

Download yourself tortoise svn and install it if you use Windows. Make somewhere folder called "statistics" or something. Check what is Statistics svn andress. http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/scm/?group_id=58
With right click select the folder you made and select "svn checkout". Put the svn checkout address you found from the link above. Soon you should receive the latest files from server. You probably want to delete those .svn files/directories from the actuall CMSMS module folder where you copy files from your svn directory.

I'm not real expert with this svn eighter so if someone knows better please comment.

I have no idea if this helps but you might get lucky and someone has fixed the bug and uploaded fixed files even if there isn't new release from the module.

Windowhat ?

thanks, I did a svn checkout with command line (I'm on linux) and it downloaded a fresh folder with Statistics 0.8.0-svn (instead of 0.6.1 installed).

Simple as that. I'll try it tomorrow morning (belgian hour).
