Using SMF Fourm with CMSMS

Post by dnrturkeyman »

Just started using CMSMS and love it so far.

I have also been using SMF as our forum software for some time. When I converted our web site to CMSMS I created a FORUM page  and set the content type for that page to LINK, typed in the URL for my forum and now my old forum pops up just fine when you click the fourm navigation tab.

I noticed on the CMSMS site that they are also using SMF and that the CMSMS header and navigation stays on the page when the forum comes up.  On mine it does not. Is there a simple way in the menu driven configuration of the pages to make this happen on mine or will I have to edit the html?

Thanks for any adivce or tips.

the way its done here is that smf has a similar theme as the other pages (cmsms, wiki, gforge and so on) its not the best way but when this site was build it was the only way...

You could use {embed} tag to include forum in a iframe but thats kinda lame also..

I'm afraid there is no "right way" (TM) to do it right now, but it could change in the future..

Thanks for the feedback.

I had found the {embed} tag and thougt that might work. Gave it a try and it looks OK. Will let it run and see if there are any problems.

I had also tried the forum module but that looks like it was an unfinished work.

For now {embed} was simple and to the point.
