Mark...Problems With XML Templates...

Post by ImmortalSon »

First of all I think your a legend!! I only found CMSMS about a week ago after months of searching and I've been hooked to my PC since!!  I keep hitting problems whilst trying to apply XML templates.  I particularly liked Andreas01 and thought I could use it as a design base but it doesn't work once I upoad the XML [http://www.multiintech.com/index.php/andreas01.html]

Depending on the version I try to upload, I either get a DTD error, or it uploads but when I apply it I only get a white screen with nothing but unformatted text and links.  Cant get my head around it!

Any help would be great...

Sorry...

I forgot ot mention; I also tried the Flowered template but ran into different problems.  Everything appeared great when it was applied to the whole site but the menu did not show any drop down options on rollover etc...it just seemed static.

Could I have possibly deleted a core element or CSS of the original CMSMS installation?

Again...Many Thanks

Hi Cyberman...

Thanks for getting back to my post. You'll have to fogive me if I'm being stupid but somehow it worked when I uploaded the Andreas XML from the link you sent me.  There are a few issues I have highlighted in red on the attached image though which illustrates what I see when I apply the newly imported template to all pages.

Can you shed any light on how I fix these...one is that there is no News Section Header and it isn't formatted that great.  The second is an error on the right hand side.  See attached.

Thanks again.

R.

Okay...

Further to my last post, I have since tidied up the news section using div tags etc.  I have also deleted the eroor on the right, but does anyone know how to get rid of the right section completely?  At the moment I just have a white space but was wondering if I can simply transform the template into two columns (Menu/News, and Content) instead of three columns (Menu/News, Content, and third right side section)...anyone got suggestions on what I need to add or delete?

Many Thanks,

R.
