no working table formatting

Post by Jotaro »

Hi @ all,

i need some help with the table layout for cmsms.

i have a simple table pasted in html as content of a page, but the cells of this table don't adapt to the font height, for example:

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" border="0" align="left">
    <!-- Row 1 -->
    <tbody>
        <tr bgcolor="#ececec">
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 1, Column 1 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"><font size="5"> [ Row 1, Column 2 ]</font> </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 1, Column 3 ] </td>
        </tr>
        <!-- Row 1.a -->
        <tr bgcolor="#ffffff">
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 1.a , Column 1 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 1.a , Column 2 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 1.a , Column 3 ] </td>
        </tr>
        <!-- Row 2 -->
        <tr bgcolor="#ececec">
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 2, Column 1 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 2, Column 2 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 2, Column 3 ] </td>
        </tr>
        <!-- Row 2.a -->
        <tr bgcolor="#ffffff">
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 2.a , Column 1 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 2.a , Column 2 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Row 2.a , Column 3 ] </td>
        </tr>
        <!-- Last_Row -->
        <tr bgcolor="#ececec">
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Last Row, Column 1 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Last Row, Column 2 ] </td>
            <td width="" valign="middle" align="left"> [ Last Row, Column 3 ] </td>
        </tr>
    </tbody>
</table>
i made the font of the 2nd cell in the first row smaller, just for testing, but the cell height still stays the same, like here:

I searched for settings in the stylesheet, but i found nothing that seems to control the cell height:

Code: Select all

Which browser are you using?

Using the HTML and CSS you posted, IE6 and Firefox resized the table row correctly for me with the larger font.

I'm using FF 2.0.0.1 and iex 7.0.57

The first screenshot shows firefox, here are two with iex:

After I deleted a column, It returned this:

And here is a link to the actual page: http://jotaro31.jo.funpic.de/cmsmadesimple/index.php?page=tabellen

Found the problem. Here it is:

body {
  text-align: left;
  font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
  font-size: 75.01%;

  line-height: 1em; /* <---- forces all line height to 1em */
}
