I am building a site for a medical firm. The company is split up into 6 divisions and they want the site to effectively look like 6 individual mini sites to the frontend user.
No problem with that...thanks to some advice in these forums, I've created a division structure in page manager and an initial intro splash page so the user can initaially select a division.
The site effectively does look like 6 seperate sites. Each one has its own unique menu structure and content and each division has its own template.
I have basically put 2 seperate menus on each mini site. The first menu has all the unique links to each of the divisions individual pages whilst the second menu a standard menu that will be the same throughout all 6 mini sites (eg pages for Contact Us, About Us etc.)
Here's the question...
Lets take the standard Contact Us page as the example. I've created it in the page manager and assigned a template to it. Lets say that it's assigned to the division 1 template. Now as long as I'm browsing the divison 1 mini site there is no problem however as soon as I start browsing divisions 2 - 6, the Contact Us page is obviously still going to open in the division 1 template and as a result the user is going to forced out of the division mini site that he originally accessed.
The only way that I can see to get around this is to recreate the standard pages menu items in each division within page manager and call the content through a content alias type. This is clearly going to work but is also going to make the admin a great deal more crowded. I have 9 standard pages accross 6 divisions so there will basically be an extra 54 menu items listed in page manager.
Are there any other options that you guys can think off??
I have uploaded a temporary version of the site to http://www.blue2net.co.uk so you can get an idea of what I mean by the menu structure.
Sincere thanks for unclogging my head guys!!!
