Static or Dynamic URLs - newbie

Post by DogTags »

Hi All

I "just" found CMSmadesimple, and it looks really interesting.

The part that really hits home for me relates to creating a static site:
CMS lets you update your pages and keep the content on a static page that will not become stale regardless of how much other content gets placed on your site
In the demo, the links to site pages look like this:

http://demo.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php?page=2

However, the links on the cmsmadesimple.org home page go like this:

http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/contactus.shtml

Is it possible to create all site pages as regular .html pages? (not either /index.php?page=2 or ssi calls like contactus.shtml)

What I've been searching for is a cms that can build a totally static site of .html pages using templates, etc.

Thanks very much :)

It does not do this currently...  it's in the list of ideas for the 2.0 rewrite, though.  At first it seemed like a strange idea to want to do this, but as more and more people ask for it, I'm starting to see the value.
