CMS made simple...so good but so slow

Post by Pera »

Slow...I mean if you're eg. in the frontpage and you click "Contact" you'll have wait for 2-4 seconds before the site is ready to use. And the problem isn't in server or connect rate.

I didn't find other topics about this subject but I think many users and developers know this problem. So...is there any way to get CMS made simple faster or will this problem solve in continously versions?

how do you know it isnt the server or connect rate.
Is your site on shared hosting ? whats your php memory limit? how fast does your site make the db queries ?

anyway your speed can depend on many things. But cmsms isnt slow by default.

I have cmsms running on a dedicated box and on several vhosts. On the dedicated, I found that eaccelerator made a difference. If you don't have some kind of php accelerator, I'd suggest adding it. If you're on a vhost, if you bug them to raise your php memory, they often will. One other thing on vhosts is to make sure that the user you use for mysql isn't used by any other application. A lot of isp's will limit your connections by user, so if you have say Drupal running on the same vhost with the same user, you'll take a pretty good performance hit. Hope that helps.
