News module : page template and title

Post by stanis »

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if the following is possible with the News module :

1. I have several categories and a news summary on the home page. When clicking on the link to read the details of the article, I would like to use the template of the category the article belongs to.

2. On the detail page of a news article, I would like to use the title of the article for the tag of the HTML page (in section).

If not already in the code, do you know where I can modify the code to achieve this ?

Thank you.

Stanis

As for the template you can set the detail page using detailpage="pagealias" look in the 'Help'  Extensions » Modules click the name of the module to get the help page it has all the parameters for it...

Using the title for the news in the title I'm not sure you can pull it out of the news module, a real programmer here may know of a way...

Yes, would be so very wonderful if the title of the News could be the title of the page.

Second up would be if it could have a specified page name as well ie: http://www.mywebsite.com/index.php/news ... rtant.html

I'm replying simply to see if there's anyone that could make it happen.  I list all of my articles via the news (so that they can go up by date, newest on top) however this ends up turning down the search engine freindlyness of them.
