When I add a backend admin group, it shows up in FEU and breaks FEU. In other words, none of my FEU users can access the content they're supposed to be able to access. AND, to make matters worse, when I try to delete the backend group in FEU, I get an error.
I don't have the energy to provide details about it right now, because I had to uninstall and reinstall FEU to fix the issue, and that means recreating my properties, groups, users, etc...
FrontEnd Users backend group error
Re: FrontEnd Users backend group error
OK, here's the full explanation of this error. For the record, I'm using CMSMS 1.0.2 Maui, and FrontEndUsers 1.1.1.
Before this problem started, everything was working fine. CMSMS was working fine, and FEU was logging frontend users in and displaying the appropriate content based on the userid or the group.
THEN, I created a backend group in the Admin for editors. I called this group Restricted Editors, and I assigned this group zero permissions. I then assigned one editor (not the admin) to this group.
As soon as I did this, I noticed that FEU was broken. Instead of logging me in, it displayed the default "you are not logged in; please log in" message that I had setup for unauthorized users. It took me a few minutes to realize what was going on, but I finally noticed that a new group had automatically been created in FEU, called "Restricted Editors". The group description was listed as "Backend gruop" (yes, it was misspelled like that. I tried to fix the misspelling in my module_custom FEU lang file, but it didn't make any difference, even after clearing the cache, so it must be reading that text from a file somewhere else.)
Anyway, once I realized that the backend group was what started the problem, I went into the Admin and deleted that group. But when I went back into FEU, the group was still displayed. So I tried to delete it in FEU, and got an error message ("Error!"). No explanation, just the word. So I thought "well, maybe I need to recreate the group in the backend, then delete it in FEU, and then delete it again from the Admin". So I tried to recreate the group in the backend, and got an error. I then went in to phpMyAdmin and looked at my database, and there were two Restricted Editors groups listed in my admin groups table. I manually deleted both, and then manually deleted the group from the feu groups table as well.
This still didn't resolve the problem - I still saw my "unauthorized" message instead of the content I should have been allowed to see when logged in. SO, I finally uninstalled and reinstalled FEU, and that fixed the problem, but obviously required me to recreate all my properties, groups, and users because I didn't have a db backup of those users that hadn't been corrupted by the backend group.
Any ideas? Why is FEU recognizing the backend group at all?

Re: FrontEnd Users backend group error [SOLVED]
After applying the file updates noted http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,8680.0.html, my backend group does not interfere with FEU users expiring. Still not sure why the backend users show up in FEU - from everything I've read, they shouldn't, but whatever...
