setting horizontal menu width/background

Post by lleighh »

I've searched the board and couldn't find a solution for this problem. The background of my horiz menu is blank (no background color) to the right of the menu buttons. See screenshot below. I want the yellow to continue to the right edge of the template. Seems like a simple fix but I can't find where it's been done before.

Re: setting horizontal menu width/background

Post by Dr.CSS »

Those aren't the only CSS attached to that template, if you go to the Templates under layout you will see on the right hand side a little CSS button click that it takes you to Layout » Templates » Current Associations there you will see another CSS that has to do with the menu, sorry if I'm telling you something you already know (don't want to assume anything, others may not know tho) in there you will see this call for...

#menuwrapper {
        overflow: hidden;
        background-color: #ECECEC; Take out this line and you get the yellow you want.
        border-bottom: 1px solid #C0C0C0;
        width: 100%;
        }

Re: setting horizontal menu width/background

Post by osn »

I have the same problem here and I tried to change the same things but I don't know why it dosn't work to do the same with my page. I think it depends on the fact that I have a 110px margin both to the left and to the right. Look at my comments below #menuwrapper
As you probably can see there is I also a problem with the footer and I have no idea how to solve that, I've been reading my scripts, looking in this forums and I havn't found something that helps me to solve this. Anyone who have any idea how to solve this problems? ???

Some thoughts that I think could solve my problems but means I have to rebuild everything is that I might change so the mid part (the pages) has a certain width and the sides adapt for the page instead, but then I can think of a couple of other problems I probably would get with margin pictures and so on, at least if I want a nice shadow towards the content.

Here is a link for my site to see the problems: www.dartfrog.tk/cms

Re: setting horizontal menu width/background

That template drives me crazy...

If you shrink the page down the menu runs off the right side, did you notice if you don't fill it up with content it has some kind of blank white thing running off the bottom left side...

That's not my template but some day if I get the time I may rework it to fix those.... ;)

Hehe, I understand that it drives you crazy mark :) Me too. I did notice that white thing at the bottom also and that was becomming my next qusestion. the problem for me is that I started to build my site from this stupid theme, but I've learned alot while trying to fix it.
Do you think it's a good idea to start all over and use another template to start from instead to get around all this problems? I have been thinking about it already a couple of times since the other themes seems to be written completly diffrent in the code but in a way that I can't just copy and paste into my theme. I would like to have 2 columns (one smaller one in the right and then a fixed content page and margins that adapt to the screensize instead of fixed margins). otherwise I like the look of the one I have. Any recomendations of a good theme to start from to get about the same result?

"That template drives me crazy..." <- this was quite good help anyway. Made me decide to rebuild it all from start.

I've used the wireframe templates to make flexible pages with great results...

http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/Theme_F ... .html this is the basic frame works page...

By the way! I tried to view the page an old version of IE v 6.0. 2800. 1106.xpsp2.050301-1526
Mabie it's made for old IE code and that is the problem for the browsers of today.

I think the best is to start all over, so any comments about what is the best theme for me to use to build from to get something simular to the look I have now will be appreciated!
I will have a look at the wireframe templates! Thanx Mark!
