Strict Doctype : Search Module not validating

CMS Made Simple 1.0.2 "Maui"
with a strict Doctype and the Search module is not validating.
is there a way i can edit that module so that it will validate?

Any reason you are using the Strict Doc type...

i was always told it was best to do so. to keep browsers out of quirks mode.
