How Do I Install A Module?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

I just uninstalled it and gave up. Things shouldn't be this difficult!

Thanks for everyone's help. Maybe when I'm feeling a little better, I'll try it again -- now that I know how to do it.

Indeed things shouldn't be too difficult. Actually, XML module files were introduced to make installing modules much easier.
Normally setting the right permissions on the module folder (writable by the webserver) should be enough - then modules can be installed through XML, either the "1 click way" from Module Manager, or by manually uploading the XML file from the module admin page.

Most of the time when you install a module which screws up all the formatting, you're installing a non-1.0-compliant module on a 1.0.x installation.  This should be easily fixed (either by de-installing the module from the screwed up admin, or by simply deleting the newly installed module folder).

Hope you'll feel better soon.
