Album module showing "no thumb"

I don't know about this "" character that gets in the way, but I tried the Album module yesterday and I've had troubles with file permissions. In the global settings, a umask of "022" would give me "640" permissions, thus the thumbnails AND pictures could not be shown. umask seems to behave strangely, and the only settings that work fine are "000" ("666" permissions) and "002" ("644" permissions... don't ask me why).

It may have nothing to do with your problem, but it might be useful to check it out.

I have a same problem: 640 permissions from PhotoAlbum upload.
Where is umask setting?
In config.php there is a "default_upload_permission" but not work in PhotoAlbum (Image Manager work but thumb-file is always 640).
