Cataloger category error after cmsms and module upgrade

This topic was also posted in the installation forum long ago but no one seemed to have any answers. I am reposting here as it belongs here anyway.

The issue is that after upgrading the cmsms to the recent versions as well as the recent cataloger, the category view throughs an error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function Active() on a non-object in /home/.duce/WEBSITE/http/www.website.com/cms2/modules/Cataloger/ ... module.php on line 320...

I've asked around and uninstalled and reinstalled the module and cleared the cache and I've been unable to resolve the issue. I'm dying for a solution. Does anyone know why this is happening?
