How do I upload a template I have downloaded

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

How do I upload a template I have downloaded

Post by paulFromWales »

I am a very newbie and want to try some of the templates I have downloaded, but I am not sure where to begin. I have a few different templates, the ones from http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/Full_Themes.html some have just an xml file while others seem to have just a tpl and a few images etc. What I need, direct me to the right page if it is there, but a simple step by step guide for changing templates with just xml files, tpl's etc. I need a good old paint by numbers idiots guide if there is one or some good old advice. Sorry for sounding thick but I find it is better sometimes instead of chasing your own tale these forums have the answer for everything.

That thread is about porting a template to CMSMS...

Templates from the 'themes' in .xml...

In site admin go to Layout » Theme Manager second tab 'Import', Browse to find .xml file on your comp. dbl. click it, should now be showing in the box, click Import, it will take you back to first tab.

Now go to Layout » Templates under 'Active' you see a red X click that to activate the theme/template, now you can use it...

These threads will tell you how to use the .zip files that have images and .tpl/.css/.mm files...
