Cannot reinstall 1.02

I had 1.02 installed, but decided to reinstall to get a fresh start.  I deleted all the files on the server - except for some image files left by some themes - and installed using the Quick Install by FTP.  Got all files uploaded and setup exactly as per the docs.  When running the install script screen 1 is fine, passes all the tests - I then hit Continue and all I get is an empty screen.  Tried this several times...

Does the database need deleting before the reinstall ?  Or is there something else?

Any ideas here?  Otherwise I am totally stuck!

First thing that comes to mind is a too low PHP memory_limit setting. Check the webserver logs for errors.

I tried the fix in that thread, but still the same result - a blank screen.

FTP to site and make sure nothing is in the tmp/cache folders...

just a thought...

I managed to get around this by removing all the tables from the mysql database I am using.  Then the reinstall worked...
