Help with SelfRegistration please

Post by KathyPBA »

I am using latest CMSMS, CMSMailer 1.73.10, Custom Content 1.4.3, FrontEndUser 1.1.1, and SelfRegistration 1.1.0-beta1.

I followed the "instructions" from the thread titled, "Custom Content Module for newbiew (my way)", which was helpful.  However, when I try to self register someone to test the system, I get the following error:

ERROR: relation "cms_module_selfreg_properties" does not exist

I uninstalled and reinstalled SelfRegistration, I deleted my stuff and started over and I am just stuck.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Oh yes, and I forgot to add that I do get an email from the CMSMailer test.  Users go in the queue, but don't get an email in addition to the error.

Obviously it's an install problem, of some sort.

Which version of CMS, PHP, and mysql are you using, there are no DATETIME issues in that table so I can't understand why it's not creating it.

Thanks for replying, I am using CMSMS 1.0.2 and php 4.4.4.  I am not using mysql, but am using postgresql 8.1.4.

Again, thanks in advance for any help!

Was there a resolution for this?  I get this as well.  So many modules are not really workable with postgres without hacking  :'(

yeah, most developers work with mysql.  even though the CMS core supports postgres.... that doesn't mean the addons do.

Its a shame really.  It is not all that difficult to accommodate postgres ... seems like it would be worth the effort to do so.  I understand that you may not agree ... and I also thank you for all the work you do both in the dev team and on the forum.

I think CMSMS has very real potential, but aside from the core, nothing seems to work "out of the box" for a postgres user.  I would like to see better support for postgres and a bit more documentation for what I would consider basic functionality.  News (which is a very solid module, thank you), Blog (not so solid and not so good with postgres) and Front-End-User (with Self-Registration) which has potential but it is time-consuming to set up if one has not worked with it before and requires hacking for use with postgres. Documentation is minimal for FEU so it is trial and error - which is a great way to learn, but not such a great way to get a project completed on time and under budget ;)

Very few things keep CMSMS at the 'good' level rather than 'GREAT'.  I think it is one of the most promising cms apps available both for what it does and what it chooses not do. However, a few changes would yield great results.

If I were better with OOP I would offer my services, but I am not yet fully competent in that area. Perhpas I can give back another time or in other ways...
