CustomContent disables re-index on search and loses all search ability

Post by Russ »

CMS Made Simple 1.0.2 "Maui" / CustomContent 1.4.3

A very odd one this. If I try to re-index search when I have the CustomContent installed it fails over in admin and doesn't re-index, indeed it seems to completely mess up the search index as you can't seem to find anything.

Un-install CustomContent and you can re-index search and search with no-problems, Even after you re-install CustomContent. When installed again no search at all / MODIFIED

Does anyone else get this, happening on three different machines including my local one which has no memory shortage ;-)

Fairly urgent as I need search. as I can't keep un-installing and then re-installing CustomContent when a page gets updated, especially as it allows unauthorised access to protected pages.. help.../ MODIFIED

Have you tried to mark the protected content with

Code: Select all

<!-- pageAttribute: NotSearchable -->;
For myself I prefer pisearch module cause it search in all visible content, not only in content of registered modules  8). And it has such an option to mark too ...

I think you miss my point cyberman, but thank you for your reply ;-).  It is not a case of hiding pages from search, as you point out you can do this, or indeed hide from the sitemap (I don't know how to do this?)

It's a case of being able to use the internal search module or CustomContent. I can't seem to have both. It looks like CustomContent installs something to search which causes search to completely fail. At least it seems to, as an un-install and a search re-index seems to solve the problem. I'm going to have a look at this later when I've caught up on some sleep.

Hope this is clearer, I did edit my post after some more research so it maybe you saw the original one.
