jumping pages in IE

if you visit - http://www.hotsoup.co.uk/beta/ and hit the Calendar button you'll be taken to a calendar login page, click the "Use Calendar" link and you'll see that I've managed to roughly integrate calendrix (http://www.calendarix.com) into a page. If you mouse over a link you'll see the page jump and the calendar will fit the page. If that's what you see anyway, refresh the page. This (the jump) only happens in IE (in fact the site doesn't render correctly at all in FF, but that's another story, and has nothing to do with the calendar), and it jumps whether the calendar's there or not. I believe it's something to do with the float attribute, but haven't seen an answer anywhere which solves the problem. It was a clean install of 1.0.2 last Friday night, and apart from the calendar all I've done is add the news module tag to the CSS menu top+2 columns. any help would be gratefully appreciated.
