How to upgrade from Calendar v0.7 stable to version 0.7.3

Post by Gregor »

I managed to install Calender 0.7-stable on cmsm1.02 Maui. In the Content menu I see the option Calender. By clicking it, the menu opens, however clicking on the occured tabs, does not do a thing. By reading the forum's I guess that I have to upgrade to version 0.7.3. I downloaded the xml-file to my pc and looked Calender up in the Module Manager, but there it shows:
Calendar  0.7.3  368  Cannot Download  Help  About
  Add, edit and remove events
I did a chmod to the Modules directory.

Can someone help me on this one?

Thanks in advance!!

If you are using an .xml that you have downloaded...

Go to Extensions » Modules and you will see a textarea below the installed modules, click the browse button, find file on your computer, dbl. click it then the path will be in the textarea, click Submit button, it will upload it and read it and make all needed files/folders, you may still have to install it.

Thanks for the feedback!

I selected the file (Calender-0.7.3.xml) from my computer. After submitting I got the following error in the Modules screen:
Module already installed (Troubleshooting)
Looking in the Module Manager, I see the some as posted previously.

Next I uninstalled Calender, deleted the Calender-directory and tried to use the xml-file to install Calender. This brought the following error:
Could not create a file (permissions problem?) /home/httpd/vhosts/e-factive.nl/subdomains/wsv/httpdocs/modules/Calendar/method.upgrade.php (Troubleshooting)
I checked the permission settings, and as far as I can see,
modules -> 777
uploads -> 777

On the server I have only Admin-rights, no root-rights :(

Do I overlook something? Thanks for your help!

I thought, if there is a permission problem, why not uninstall Calendar and remove it's directory. So I did. No problem. Next I created the Calendar director (chmod 777), and uploaded the xml-file. All went well, although.... I see
-Add Me - module:Calendar string:cal_
Looked at the various post on this one, and I'm using the English version, so that should not be the problem ??? Cleared all caches as well. I noticed that all the subdirectories inside the Calendar directory are set a different owner/group, and therefore I'm not able to copy the nl_NL.php to the lang-directory to use the Dutch version. The Change Permissions inside the module menu does not solve it, only says:
Couldn't change permissions on some files (Troubleshooting)
Can someone please help me to get Calendar going? Thanks very much!

The .xml route of installing modules leads to the mod. being owned by the server hence no permissions to you for modifying it, altho I've seen a thread that mentions a script you can run that will change this permission problem, if I could just figure out what I did with it.

I do have it in a folder form, just can't post it here as it's too big, will make it downloadable from my site, will get back with a page link...

May just start a new thread as this is not the first one about permissions and calendar....

EDIT: Zipped, it's small enuf to do it here... take the .txt off of it...

Thanks for your help and time Mark! I could install the attached file without any problems.

I'll start the new thread.

I'm curious to know why xml is becomming the new standard for installing modules instead of doining it the old fashioned way ???

I am having the xml problem with Calendar 0.7.5

If I had a zip file of the calendar module, I could ftp it into the directory no problem, but only having it available as an xml file is a big problem because I do not have root access to my shared server and ownership of the installation is to the server, not to me. This is such a hassle.

I've noticed that previous versions of calendar also have zip files. Why not the latest version?
