CMS needs backup
I'd like to add an backup/restore function to CMS. How do you expect it to work?
I'd love to have this in for 0.7, so get your answers in.
Thanks!

@wishy
i feel a better option for this poll would have been:
i feel a better option for this poll would have been:
- How should backup work?
Save files to predetermined location on server
Send backup file to browser for downloading
BOTH/EITHER-OR user defined option
[/list:u]
as there have been times when i wish i could save a backup to my server, and/or download a copy myself.

Yeah, but that's so much more work.
I would like both, actually, but I don't think I want to try to tackle both for the next release.

so i went ahead and made my vote:
Code: Select all

This is looking kind of unanimous...
I'll give it a little more time.

I'm in favour of backupping to a predetermined location on server. This would allow for regular and automated (nightly. weekly) backups. Furthermore an existing file rotator could be used to build an archive of backups. Besides, since the backups exist on disk anyway, downloading the file afterwards will be pretty easy to implement.

Wishy:
There should be browser backup and save on server option. Why? Because if the database is big the browser backup will timeout leaving the file useless.

visit http://www.nagl.ch there you will found a very good backup-module for the cms - system xoops and it is easy to make it work with your system.
i have it make by myself safer for xoops - users (the 100%xhtml-version of xoops) and it works fine.
