How to configure for a file-oriented site

Post by rattler »

I need to create a site that allows users to upload only *.doc files and have those files immediately available  for download.  The sole purpose of the site is to allow education students to share the lessons they've created.

On the http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/ site, the theme used has a "Share a theme" link and page.  That sounds like what I'm trying to accomplish only I want the uploaded file to be available right away.  How can I do this?

You want the uploads module.  That's what the themes site uses.

If all you need is a file repository, a full featured CMS is overkill. A basic upload/download interface would be enough.

Maybe something like http://matt.phptest.free.fr/php_upload_to_my_ftp/

Don't worry because the website is in French. English documentation is included with the package.

Thanks for the replies.  Had to put things on hold for a few days while I took time to rid my system of r57shell.

I installed the upload module and will take a look.

How are downloads handled?  Can they be made available to users immediately or must they be approved first?

One more thing...I see this site is using simplemachines for forum posting.  When a user logs into a cmsms site, will  it automatically log them into the forum? Or will they have to log in twice.

Thanks again.
