Editor folder permissions Topic is solved
Editor folder permissions
I want to restrict the Editor's role to just being able to view and upload to the images folder and the folders within it. How do I do that please?
Re: Editor folder permissions
File manager permissions are not that granular, users with access to files will have access to the Uploads folder and all subfolders unless you lock them down in your file system. Typically you would place any files they shouldn't have access to in a higher level than Uploads (e.g. /assets/)

Re: Editor folder permissions
When an Editor adds a file to a page the file picker can open at this level. Which can be confusing so they usually just upload the files here.
If the file picker always opened in the Images folder then they would quickly see what subfolder to use. A bonus would be that the path and the "go back" folder are hidden!
By "locking down" do you mean changing permissions?
Re: Editor folder permissions
Try creating a filepicker profile (extension > filepicker) that starts at images - there might already be one there - and setting that to default. This should limit where they start for anything using filepicker, it just doesn't limit their access in File Manager or other modules.

Re: Editor folder permissions
Great! I had explored this in the hope it would work but was the setting to default I didn't do.
I find that Editors are ok with the File Manager as it opens in the Images folder and they only need to upload images in the right folder and it's all in front of them. With the file picker they have to remember the folder where they put the image and it's laid out differently in a smaller window so they panic and try everything and get lost. This will help as it simplifies the process for the not so techy Editors. Thank you DIG13!
